Ferry VestaArriving at Asperö, a small island (population 450) off Gothenburg on 21 July 2002. Next stop Brännö Rödsten, and then she will turn round and go back to Saltholmen. The island to the laft is Rivö (uninhabited except for flocks of sheep). To the right is Asperö, where I lived for 18 idyllic months.
Owned by Styrsöbolaget, Vesta was built in 1998 by Båtservice Holding in Norway and entered service in Gothenburg's southern archipelago in January 1999. She is named after a Roman goddess.
She has a steel hull of length 34.42 metres, beam 8.02 m and max. draught 2.74 m. She can carry a maximum of 447 passengers. 2 Volvo Penta engines of 1020 hp drive a reversible propeller, and the service speed is just over 13 knots.
