Arabian dhow in BahrainThis is one of the smaller dhows, when I was stationed in Bahrain with the RAF we used to spend most Sundays on a rather larger version, loaded with crates of beer and ostensibly "fish", in reality sunbathing and getting lubricated!
Once we landed on a sandbank in the Arabian Sea (or Persian Gulf - the same thing) and had a game of cricket, miles from anywhere. There was however a hurried rush for the dhow when the tide came in! There are some nasty surprises, such as snakes, swimming in those parts.
