Lasse Dahlquist
Heading back into Gothenburg after taking tourists to Vinga on 19 April 2006.
Built 1965, Flag: Sweden
The beautiful island of Vinga, which has a fascinating and dramatic history and is known as the last outpost before the North Sea, is only one hour and 15 minutes by boat from Göteborg. There are fine sites for bathing on the island and the sun almost always shines on Vinga. The Friends of Vinga association has set up a charming museum in the former lighthouse-keeper's home that gives an insight into the life of the poet Evert Taube, who grew up on Vinga, where his father was the lighthouse-keeper. Oner can also take the opportunity to visit the traditional beacon and the lighthouse, from which there are wonderful views over the sea and harbour mouth to Göteborg. On board the boat Lasse Dahlquist there are good facilities for coffee and refreshments on the outward and return jouneys.
