I'd love to know details of who owns her and where she is now berthed? I had the pleasure of owning Carrageen for several Years (93-98 I think) with many happy passages in SW UK and over to France. You won't get a better Sea Boat. If I remember correctly she was built in 1961 by Frans Maas in Breskens. Iroko on Steel frames with a Teak Deck and Mahogony Topsides. She had all the original paperwork when I sold Her.
Lovely to see Carrageen again. I owned her from 1983 until Martin bought her from me. The name was given her by her original owner, Mr Mather who was an advertising man. At the time he had her built he was doing a promotion for an Irish company who were marketing Carrageen, a seaweed based junket. His wife was also Irish so a double link. In 11 years I cruised her nearly 20, 000 miles with my family through all weathers. In light winds she sailed like a witch and as long as you reef down early she is (relatively) comfortable in heavy weather too.
It is the same boat I own at the moment. Type: Fortunella. Build in 1961 by Frans Maas. I try to restore the boat, which is ready in 2012. But I cant tell you anything about Carrageen. Good luck with finding her
