These barges are long enough to send a disgruntled crew member to the fo'csle out of the way

I ran one of these aground while on holiday many years ago! Fortunately the top speed is only 3 mph (2 knots?) and it was on gravel, so being a steel hull there was no damage and it was easy to reverse off. Altogether a super holiday, with my two young boys to work the lock gates, and moored outside a different pub every night. Highly recommended! (However the cost is probably astronomical these days, my trips were 35 years ago!)
