Steamship Sir Walter Scott

Steamship Sir Walter Scott tied up at Trossachs Pier
18/9/2016 Loch Katrine in The Trossachs, Scotland
Built by Denny Bros Ltd at Dumbarton, on the River Clyde, the steamship Sir Walter Scott’s journey to Loch Katrine was not an easy one. She was meticulously dismantled before being transported with love and care by barge to Inversnaid on Loch Lomond. From there, she continued on her epic journey to Stronachlachar by horse-drawn cart! Still in pieces, it was by the Loch Katrine shores that the beautiful and famous steamship Sir Walter Scott was reassembled and finally welcomed to her new home. Making her maiden voyage in 1900.
Perhaps sadly but a sign of the times and much more eco friendly than coal she was switched to bio fuel in 2007
